COUTINHO REVEALS NO REGRETS IN BARCELONA MOVE

Former Liverpool attacker, Philip Coutinho has declared he has no regret over switching Anfield for Camp Nou in 2018. The Brazilian was sold to Barcelona in a big-money move in 2018 and the club has grown in strides since the departure of the playmaker.

The Brazilian attacker was expected to be the direct replacement for fellow countryman, Neymar.

Since Coutinho left Liverpool the club has won European and world titles and they are on course to end a 3 decade wait for a league title as they are top of the table with 22 points cushion over second-placed Manchester City.

Coutinho’s career has badly stalled since that €160m transfer two years ago, while Liverpool have gone from strength to strength, winning the Champions League last season and now on course to claim the Premier League title in record-breaking fashion.

With his old team on the up, Coutinho, despite his enormous price tag, saw his stock fall as he dropped down the Barcelona pecking order. He has since joined Bayern Munich on loan, but that move is unlikely to be made permanent, while a future back at Camp Nou is also not expected.

Earlier this week, Liverpool chief executive Peter Moore suggested that Coutinho’s departure was actually the catalyst for the club’s current run of success, bringing about a change in playing style and providing the funds to sign new players.

He revealed that the money they realized from Coutinho was used to fund the purchase of Allison. The former Roma number one proved to be the final part of the puzzle from the Anfield side.

Liverpool are currently on a winter break and they will be back in league action against bottom side, Norwich City, before travelling to Athletico Madrid in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
