Italian tactician Roberto de Zerbi will take charge of Brighton and Hove Albion for the first time when they face Liverpool at Anfield this weekend. Brighton confirmed the appointment of ex-Sassuolo FC of Italy boss de Zerbi at the start of last week and his managerial bow is against JurgenKlopp and his men on Merseyside.
Potter did a good job as the Brighton manager during his time at the club. The Englishman was the Swansea City boss before he left to take the Brighton job at the start of the 2019/20 season. Under his watch, Brighton were not really in danger of suffering demotion to the English Championship in the final weeks of his first two seasons at the club. Last season, he led the Seagulls to their best finish in the Premier League. Potter and Brighton finished ninth last season though it was not enough for European football.
In the opening weeks of this season, Brighton impressed with Potter as their manager. They have been in the top half of the Premier League log since the start of the season. Potter led them to fourth spot before his exit. They are fourth on the Premier League log at the moment behind Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and leaders Arsenal after 13 points from their six games. They are guaranteed a stay in the top-four for one more week at least with an away win over Liverpool later this week.
